Vertical centrifugal pumps for low viscosity fluids
Vertical inline centrifugal pumps, as their name implies, are single stage centrifugal pumps that are specifically designed for vertical installation. Their suction and delivery are inline to provide a smooth flow of liquid through the system. Thanks to its upright design, a vertical inline pump is ideal for applications where space is an issue as its horizontal alternative can take up to 2-3 times more space. Vertical centrifugal pumps are common for the transfer of low viscosity fluids over a range of flow rates and heads.

Vertical inline pumps can be constructed as close or long coupled units with back pull out design. To maintain a close coupled back pull out designed pump, the motor must be removed at which point the impeller and other parts can be accessed. With a long coupled back pull out design vertical inline centrifugal pump, there is a cover plate that is removed meaning the internal parts can be accessed and removed without removing the motor.
Applications that commonly use vertical centrifugal pumps include:
Water supply
Fire fighting
Ballast pumping
Bilge pumping
Heating/cooling conditioning
