Polyurethane Application on Slurry Pump Wet End Parts
Centrifugal slurry pumps are widely used in mining, chemical and industrial applications. Polyurethane parts show distinct and attractive advantages over conventional rubber parts. I remembered one Engineered Systems founder commended the Polyurethane parts “ It’s not a little bit better, it’s not medium-size better. It’s just hugely better than rubber.”
Today I would like to introduce our Polyurethane Parts which were developed by ourselves.
What is Polyurethane(PU)?
Polyurethane(PU), is a kind of polymer compound. And the Polyurethane elastomer is a new type of polymer synthetic material between rubber and plastic.
Strength & Performance of Polyurethane Parts
It has both the high strength of plastic and the high elasticity of rubber. One of its most attractive properties is its resistance to chemicals, pressure, oil, abrasion, acid and alkali, aging, ozone, tear, impact and low temperature. It also delivers the superior performance on high elasticity, strong vibration absorption, large load supporting, etc.
Based on the advantageous characteristics of polyurethane on the slurry pumps products, in order to meet the demand of different applications, besides the rubber wet end parts , we also have developed a variety of polyurethane wet end parts to support our customers.
The main Characteristics of Polyurethane on Slurry Pump Application:
1. Wide range of hardness, still can keep good rubber elasticity and elongation under high hardness.
2. High strength, with higher tearing strength and load-bearing capacity than the general rubber under the range of the rubber hardness; and with much more impact strength and bending strength than plastic under high hardness.
3. High abrasion resistance, with a range between 0.03-0.20(mm3)/m, 3-5 times than the natural rubber.
4. Good oil resistance, it is hardly corroded in fuel oil and machine oil, because the polyurethane elastomer is a kind strongly polar polymer compound and has low affinity with the non-polar mineral oil.
5. High fatigue strength, the polyurethane material is recognized widely as an elastomer material with higher fatigue strength and the fatigue strength is an index to measure the repeated deformation of the material.
